Greetings and salutations to all of our brothers and sisters from the Grand Canyon District. Our November meeting began at 9:00 on November 2 at the Hog's Restaurant. We had a good turnout for the meeting.
District Manager Chris Kite reported that our monthly Bike Night (at the Hog Restaurant) on the third Tuesday of each month has been a success. The first Bike Night, in September, had standing room only inside the saloon. People met with other brothers and sisters and we feel confident that some will soon become members of the MMA. We are pushing memberships with the folks that we meet and we are explaining why it is so important to be a member of an MRO today. We hope to be able to boast a membership in our district of 20+ by the end of the year.
We wish to than Larry Herrera, from the Phoenix District, for riding all the way to Flagstaff to attend our meeting. It was an honor to have him. We would again like to invite any and all members from other districts to come on up and say howdy. If you need a place to stay, contact Steve at 928-527-3151. We'll put you up and make you feel comfortable.
We wish to again thank the Hog's Restaurant for all of their support for our functions. They have been truly helpful and they have taken a personal interest in our success. We may all have several new business members coming on board this month and we'll keep you all informed. We try to actively support our business members.
Chris also announced that our treasury now has $166.00 (please don't laugh as we are a new district). Dave "Bam Bam" Clifton won the 50/50 and donated all of his winnings back to the district. Thanks for your support, Bam Bam.
Steve Briggs gave a report concerning the Board Of Directors meeting held at the Moose Lodge in Casa Grande on October 25. Steve also reported that he was honored to be elected to the Board by other BOD members at the meeting.
The Grand Canyon District will hold a Yard Sale in Flagstaff on Saturday, November 23. All members are going to donate items to help support our treasury and for our Look Out for Motorcycles ads. We intend to place the ads on local newspapers as we do not have any billboards in the city. A special thanks to Larry Herrera who stated that he has some furniture that he cannot use in his new lodgings. He stated that he'll haul this furniture up to Flagstaff for our district to sell at the Yard Sale. It is folks like Larry that really make us feel welcome in the MMA.
We're also hoping to become more involved and getting to know our brothers and sisters in other districts by attending their events this winter. We are having problems locating a storage facility down south that will let us store our bikes. If nothing else, we'll attend the events in our cages.
With respect to all other freedom fighters,
Steve "Snake" Briggs
Grand Canyon District Secretary
