Dang, we got us some wonderful riding weather going on right now. I always say that a perfect day in Apache Junction has 75 for a low and 100 for a high. It’s not so hot that a person doesn’t want to do anything, but temperatures of 100 keep the snowbirds away. Speaking of snowbirds, they are already back, and I have been run off onto the shoulder once already, and one thing they don’t teach in motorcycle classes is how to read minds. Anybody that learns this art please let all of us know. It probably would not have done any good in this case as she came up from BEHIND me and then moved into my lane, so she cannot say she did not see me. She just flat out did not care. If it had not been a little old lady, there might have been a story about a biker with road rage in the paper. As it was, I just waved at her without using all my fingers. Be careful out there.
Here’s what’s a goin’ on here in Salt River. First of all, we got this here .45 cal. non firing caplock rifle with a curly maple hand carved stock (by Boon) we are raffling off to raise funds to send people to NCOM etc. This is what we do folks. Without the information we get from these types of sources, we could end up dead in the water in our fight for equality with the cagers. Tickets are $5 or 5 for $20. Contact me or Mike Shearhart or any other SRD officer to get tickets. (Non-firing at this time)
We have the Birds on Bikes run coming up Nov. 23, look at the website or the back page of the last Patriot for more details. The food banks all over are hurting due to the economy, so guess how the people they feed are doing? For about the cost of 3 people having lunch at McDonald’s, you can strap a bird on your bike and help out somebody that really needs it.
On December 6, we have our annual run to Sunshine Acres Children’s Home. One correction to the flier in the last Patriot is the cost is $15 single, $25 double, OR the equivalent in toys etc. Although I do not have a list of needed items, the list in the past has also included such things as personal hygiene items appropriate for children and teenagers of both sexes, gift cards for fast food places, Wal-Mart gift cards, and you name it. If you’ve raised kids, you know what they need. May not be exactly what they want however. Socks, P.J.’s , shavers, toothpaste and brushes, it’s all welcome. Let’s make Christmas a nice day for these kids.
Norton’s Country Corner in Queen Creek done signed up as a business member, makes a nice stop down in that neck of the woods. As always, make sure the people where you stop know you are with the MMA. We have a lot of business members that tell us they don’t see MMA patronizing their establishments, but if we don’t tell them who we are, they don’t know.
Mike is back from his extended vacation, so I am no longer acting DM for SRD. This means that next month you will have to read his terse, surly, ill-tempered style of writing. Love ya Mike. All for now.
