The meeting “Agenda” of MMA CG District has the Mission Statement of MMA: “MMA is a Motorcycle Rights Organization (MRO) comprised of motorcyclists and motorcycle enthusiasts who are concerned with the future, safety and welfare of motorcycling. MMA is a non-profit, educational organization whose members are dedicated to improving the social atmosphere, which surrounds motorcyclists, and protecting the individual freedoms of America’s citizens”.
Our Casa Grande District Secretary Kat updates agendas for ALL Members to make it easier to write down key points they want to remember and brings minutes from past meetings so they can read about what happened and what is coming up if they missed meetings. Handouts of all sorts, membership forms, Newspapers and events for the next couple months are all put out for members. DM-Steve Musgrave discussed NCOM at the May meeting. Cathie (MMMC) and Hippy (Hooligans MC) are going and representing MMA and CG District. Steve (DM) is going too. Later in the month of May, they all went to NCOM and reported back with a summary. (Please see the summary below). Then there was a report from the Bar owner (a Business Member) about an officer giving Bullet Bar (where CG meets monthly) lots of grief and headaches. Discussion by all the members ensued. There were a lot of great ideas and personal stories. Officer even threatened to have her liquor license taken away for serving MC’s from the CG area. The owner and some of the MMA Members went to a City Council Meeting. The result was the officer’s conduct was reported to Internal Affairs. He was ordered to stay out of the vicinity of Bullet Bar, he was NOT to stay parked by the Bullet Bar sitting and waiting to go after a customer who leaves and he was not to respond to calls there. Good discussion about coming up with another event to make money sometime within the next few months. There was a suggestion to have multiple Organizations, Clubs, etc be a part of it. It was decided to discuss at next meeting. DM talked about the emissions extension of 2 years passing and signed. Lots of discussion about this and even though it doesn’t effect Pinal County, the membership was upset and tired of EPA holding it all up. It has been 7 years in the process and the only county in the nation that tests Motorcycles.
ADM Cathie gave her report from the April 28th Biker Beach and Rodeo Event. She thanked those that came to the event and those that helped. She gave a big thank you to Hooligans MC for showing up in numbers and paid to get in (even though they helped, donated items and assisted Cathie as much as she needed) to help and support MMA CG. Nick-Hooligan MC donated his time to be the DJ. Music was awesome and he kept up with announcements. 33 paid participants for at the gate. Donations were numerous. Hooligans MC, MMMC, Desert Cycles, and Fern helped here. Also we had some merchandise from before to add to this. Bike games were Weenie Bite, Potato in the Haystack, Slow Race, Plank Ride. People games were Water Balloon Toss, Toilet Paper/Plunger game, Tire Toss. Winners got Trophy and Ribbons. Event brought in $566 with the raffle tickets and gate. The costs were $175.33 so we ended with a profit of $390.67. (Hey, at least we made something and it did not cost to put on event-haha). (Her NCOM report is below).
Secretary, Kat, talked about all the Motorcycle Awareness events that went on in the state. There was great participation by community. Some Radio and TV spots on Motorcycle Awareness were going on during May. Kat gave a report about the last ACMC meeting. They started new criteria for Associates. Need to find a Mentor/Sponsor before next meeting in July 2012. FYI: Kat always has ACMC Patches for MMA Members because the MMA is a Member of the ACMC. Kat also discussed establishing relationships with our District 23 Senator Steve Smith and Representatives Pratt and Fillmore because they appear to be biker friendly and supportive. We should all be doing this now before the next session. Also establish a good relationship with our State Senators and Representatives for national issues. The Nissan Juke Ad was on CBS news regarding its inappropriateness and insensitive actions of the theme of the Ad with Kat being interviewed. She reports some sites have been shut down that had this Ad on it. Others are still up and it continues to go viral. Kat discussed the US Defenders program and how it is suppose to work. She talked about the MMA Discussion List and many Members did not know about it and/or were not signed up. Kat and Steve explained it and Kat explained how the “Call to Action” is suppose to go. There was discussion about making the request for action to be simpler and more user-friendly. Kat will look into having a set up more like the American Motorcycle Association (AMA) where you get the email, click on the tab that you want to respond and send email and then up pops the email. The MMA member can then send the email with one click. Many of the MMA members need quick, easy, and simple ways to do their part. Kat and Steve will try to look into this.
Membership, Paul, reports he spent a lot of time setting up a mass email list, compiling data about current Members and expired Members. Then he sent emails and called to see if he could get them to renew. Paul enjoyed talking to Members about the reasons why they did not keep up their Membership. There were many reasons why: income was reduced, forgot, moved, they did not get a reminder, or they no longer were interested. We have averaged 14 Members present for both May and June meetings. Total Members for MMA CG is 49. We have gotten 11 new Members since Feb. We went from 16 Expired Members to 6 Expired up to June. CG has 43 Active Members and 2 Active Businesses (Wonder Bar renewed their membership). We have 38 Emails, 5 Returned Emails, 1 Email for a Non-Member, and 12 No Emails at all. Paul reported he is working hard to get the Membership up and current. The MMA Membership Trifold Flyer will be at the next meeting. Kat was able to get UPS Store in Maricopa to donate the first 100 flyers. Thank you Maricopa UPS Store.
The Treasurer reported we are holding our own and have money in our account. CG still needs a Road Captain. Wonder Bar renewed their membership. MDATD is in mid-Feb 2013. Please come and support this day for Motorcyclists. The date will be coming soon and it is usually a Tues/Wed. Some new information about Sonny’s new project making a Independent Film using his best seller book “Dead in 5 Heartbeats”. They are looking to have Arizona MCs and Motorcyclists at a mock funeral and procession on June 17th, 2012. Details will follow. The Best of The West Conference is June 15-17 2012 in Las Vegas. The Plaza Hotel is the location of the conference. For the first time, they have the Nevada Coalition of Clubs hosting the conference. Go to www.mrf.org FMI.
MMA State Meeting is on July 14th, with lunch at 11am and Meeting starting at Noon. It is at VFW 593 N MAIN EAGAR AZ 85925.
Both monthly meetings were positive, informative, interactive and educational with regard to what has been, what is, and what will be for the future of Casa Grande MMA District. It is always a great accomplishment to come to a meeting and feel/believe things got done, that people are encouraged/motivated and we are all moving forward with new visions, a sense of awareness, understanding and a new commitment to come back next month for more. Thank you, Casa Grande District Members, for the opportunity to serve you and MMA. Meeting: July 1, 2012 at 11am at the Silver Bullet Bar in Casa Grande.
Let’s keep things moving in June and July.

Secretary, Casa Grande District
